Would it be inappropriate for me to get a tattoo of a friend that passed away recently?

It would the classic name, face, DOB - DOD. She was a dear friend of mine and she has made a tremendous impact on my life, and I would like to honor her, however i'm not sure if only family members can (appropriately) get a tattoo like that. what do yall think? thank you for your time
