What would be a good tattoo too represent birth and death?

Black crows are a sign of bad luck. I got אהבה tattooed on my rib cage to signify the death of my great grandmother. It's the Hebrew word for love since we are Jewish. I think instead of getting the crow you could get an angel? I love the dove idea. If you don't want to mix a dove with an angel you could get a picture of an angel walking...the Angel being your mum and the foot prints being your daughter. :]
